Terms of Service
1. The service
Cantus is a client, calendar, invoicing, and business-management tool for piano technicians, provided by Moore Piano Services / Petra Moore LLC ("we," "us"). By creating an account, you agree to these terms.
2. Service development
Cantus is actively developed and improved. The service may be updated, expanded, or experience temporary interruptions as we refine it. We welcome bug reports and feedback from subscribers. Subscribers who enrolled at a promotional rate retain that rate for the life of their account as long as their subscription remains continuously active.
3. Accounts
You must provide accurate information when signing up. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity under your account. One account is intended for one technician or one business.
4. Competitor exclusion
Cantus is built for piano technicians running a piano service business, not as a benchmark for other software makers. Registration is not open to any individual who is an employee, contractor, owner, or affiliate of a business that develops, sells, or operates competing piano-technician or field-service management software.
Registering an account for the purpose of market research, competitive analysis, feature mapping, or design replication — regardless of whether you also happen to be a piano technician — is a material breach of these terms and grounds for immediate termination without notice or refund.
5. Your data
You own the data you enter into Cantus. We do not claim any intellectual property rights to your client lists, business information, invoices, photos, recordings, or files. You are responsible for the accuracy of the data you enter and for complying with applicable law regarding the personal information of your own clients. See our Privacy Policy for details on how data is stored and protected.
6. Automated communications
When you enable reminder, follow-up, or review-request features, Cantus sends messages to your clients on your behalf using your business name and contact information. You are responsible for ensuring you have an appropriate relationship with the recipients and that the messages comply with applicable laws (including CAN-SPAM for email and, when text messaging becomes available, TCPA). You can disable automated sending at any time through Settings.
7. Client-facing pages and online booking
Cantus allows you to generate private, shareable links that show your clients limited, read-only information about their own piano(s). You are responsible for sharing these links only with the intended client. We do not control who you share links with, and we are not liable for data exposure resulting from a link being shared with unintended recipients.
If you turn on online booking, your clients can book or request appointments on your booking page within the availability, services, notice, and approval settings you choose (and, starting October 21, 2026, your service area). Starting October 21, 2026, a returning client who enters the name and phone number you have on file can see the contact details and pianos you have on file for them and update their own contact details; those changes are saved to their record and listed in your booking notification. You are responsible for your booking settings and for confirming or declining booking requests.
8. Acceptable use
Cantus is designed exclusively for managing a legitimate piano service business. You agree not to:
- Use the service to store, transmit, or distribute any unlawful, obscene, defamatory, or otherwise objectionable content.
- Use the service to facilitate any illegal activity, including but not limited to the transportation, sale, or distribution of illicit goods or substances.
- Upload or store content that infringes any third party's intellectual property, privacy, or other rights.
- Attempt to access other subscribers' data, accounts, or any part of the service's infrastructure not intended for your use.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, disassemble, or otherwise attempt to derive the source code of the service.
- Copy, mimic, or replicate Cantus's user interface, user experience, workflows, dashboard layouts, or client-facing page aesthetic for use in any other software or service.
- Use manual or automated tools — including screenshots, screen recordings, or scraping software — to harvest, catalog, or reproduce the visual interface for competitive analysis or any other purpose outside your own ordinary use of the service.
- Use the automated communication features (reminders, follow-ups, review requests) to send spam, unsolicited marketing, or messages unrelated to piano service.
- Resell, sublicense, or redistribute access to Cantus without our written permission.
- Interfere with or disrupt the service's operation, security, or performance.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, with notice where practical and without refund for the current billing period.
9. Intellectual property
Cantus — including its name, logo, design, user interface, visual identity, source code, documentation, and all related materials — is the intellectual property of Moore Piano Services / Petra Moore LLC. All rights are reserved.
Trademarks. "Cantus" is a trademark of Petra Moore LLC, the subject of a pending U.S. federal trademark application (Serial No. 50007476). The Cantus name and logo may not be used in connection with any product or service that is not provided by us, or in any manner likely to cause confusion about the source of a product or service. Nothing in these terms grants you any right to use the Cantus name or logo except as described below.
- Your subscription grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the service for your own business. It does not grant ownership of, or rights to copy, modify, or redistribute, any part of the service itself.
- You may not copy, replicate, or create derivative works based on Cantus's design, interface, code, or functionality, in whole or in part.
- You may not photograph, screenshot, screen-record, or otherwise derive design, layout, or functional elements from your dashboard, other in-app screens, or any client-view page, for the purpose of building, describing, marketing, or improving any other product or service.
- You may accurately state that your business uses Cantus (for example, on your website or in client communications). Beyond that, you may not use the Cantus name, logo, or branding in any way that implies endorsement, partnership, or affiliation, without our written permission.
- Feedback, feature suggestions, and bug reports you provide may be used by us to improve the service without obligation or compensation to you.
Your own data (client records, business information, photos, invoices) remains your property at all times — this section applies only to the Cantus product itself, not to the data you store in it.
10. Payment
Subscriptions bill automatically via Stripe, monthly or yearly depending on the plan you choose. You can cancel at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you retain full access until then. 14-day money-back guarantee: if Cantus isn’t right for you, email support within 14 days of your first subscription payment and we will refund that payment in full, monthly or yearly. Beyond that, for monthly subscriptions, no refunds are issued for partial billing periods unless required by applicable law. For yearly subscriptions, if you cancel after the first 14 days, you may request a prorated refund for the remaining full months of your billing year; email support and we will refund those months to your original payment method. Prices may change for new subscribers, but your rate is locked as long as your subscription remains continuously active.
11. Online invoice payments
Cantus facilitates online invoice payments between you and your clients through Stripe, including through Stripe Connect, which lets payments go directly into your own connected Stripe account. We are not a party to the transaction between you and your client. You are responsible for the accuracy of invoices you issue, applicable sales tax, and any disputes with your clients regarding payments.
Cantus also lets you send estimates that your clients can approve or decline online. An approval records the name the client types, the option chosen, and when it was given. Estimates and approvals are between you and your client; we are not a party to any agreement between you.
12. Availability & support
We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Planned maintenance will be communicated in advance when possible. Support is provided on a best-effort basis via support@getcantus.com.
Cantus relies on third-party services — including Stripe for payments, Supabase for data storage, Netlify for hosting, Resend for email delivery, Sentry for error reports, and OpenStreetMap-based services and, starting October 21, 2026, Google Maps Platform for locations, driving distances, routes, and address suggestions. We are not liable for financial losses, missed appointments, delayed reminders, or failed transactions caused by an outage, error, or interruption in any of these third-party services, whether or not it also affects Cantus.
Address suggestions, locations, driving distances, mileage, routes, and service-area checks come from these map services and are estimates. Check them before relying on them, for example for tax mileage records or travel planning.
13. Data export & deletion
You may export a complete copy of your data at any time from Settings → Backup & restore, using the backup download (all your records and settings) and the photos and recordings download (your media files). You may request deletion of your account at any time using Delete account in Settings or by contacting support; deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. If you cancel your subscription without requesting deletion, your data is retained for 30 days and then permanently deleted.
14. Termination
You may close your account at any time, by requesting deletion in Settings or by contacting support. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, with notice where practical. Upon termination, the data retention and deletion policy in section 13 applies.
15. Limitation of liability
Cantus is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent permitted by law, Moore Piano Services / Petra Moore LLC is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the service, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of revenue, or business interruption. This includes financial losses, missed appointments, or transaction failures caused by outages or errors in Stripe or other third-party integrations we rely on, as described in section 12. Our total liability to you for any claim arising from the service is limited to the amount you have paid us in subscription fees during the 12 months preceding the claim.
16. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Moore Piano Services / Petra Moore LLC from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the service, your violation of these terms, or your violation of any law or the rights of a third party.
17. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of South Carolina. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of Greenwood County, South Carolina.
18. Changes to these terms
We will notify active subscribers by email before material changes to these terms take effect. Continued use of the service after notification constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
