Questions

The things you’re right to ask.

Who’s behind Cantus?

Davis Moore, a working piano technician in Greenwood, South Carolina (CPT, Piano Technicians Guild member), running a full tuning and repair practice. Cantus started as the software he built to run his own business because nothing else fit. Every feature exists because a real service call needed it. When you email support, he’s the one who answers.

Is there a free trial?

You get full access from day one at a flat $47.95 a month (or $479.95 a year), and if it isn’t right for you within the first 14 days, email us and we’ll refund you in full, no questions asked. There’s no contract: cancel anytime from your account settings, and a built-in export lets you take all your data with you.

Can I import from Gazelle, a spreadsheet or another tool?

Yes. Cantus has a built-in Gazelle import, and it can also bring in clients and pianos from any other program’s export, a CSV or Excel file, letting you match each column to the right field before anything is saved. Starting fresh? Add clients as you go; most technicians are fully set up within their first week of appointments.

Does it really work offline?

Yes. Appointments, client records and service logs work without signal and sync when you’re back in coverage. In a web browser you need to have signed in beforehand; the App Store app makes offline fully seamless.

Does Cantus work on Android?

Yes. Cantus runs in your phone’s browser and can be installed to your home screen like an app. It works offline and syncs when you’re back in coverage. A Google Play listing is on the roadmap.

Is my client data private?

Yes. Each account’s data is isolated at the database level, enforced by the database itself, not just the app. Nothing is sold, shared or used for advertising. Payments run through Stripe, so card numbers never touch Cantus. The details are in plain English in the privacy policy.

What happens to my data if I cancel, or if Cantus goes away?

Your data is yours. A built-in backup downloads your records, including clients, pianos, service history, invoices and expenses, anytime in one tap. If you cancel, your data is held for 30 days in case you return, then permanently deleted.

Can I delete my account myself?

Yes. In Settings, choose Delete account and confirm. That opens a ready-written email to support; send it, and your account and all of its data are permanently deleted within 30 days. It can’t be undone, so download a backup first if you might want your records.

Does it work outside the U.S.?

Yes. Cantus supports multiple currencies (including USD, ZAR, GBP and EUR), miles or kilometers, and sales tax, VAT or GST. Technicians use it in the U.S. and internationally.

What kind of support can I expect?

You deal directly with Davis, the founder and developer, with no ticket queues or chatbots. Email support@getcantus.com or use the contact form. Most questions are answered within a day, often sooner.
